Love in Action

"Giving frees us from the familiar territory of our own needs by opening our mind to the unexplained worlds occupied by the needs of others." Barbara Bush

Over and over again kids are rushed out of their current living situation, and into the foster care system. The continual chaos and unknown environment can often leave the child and resource family feeling unstable. When this happens, the resource family (whether that be extended family or strangers) may not have what they need to allow for the child to be placed within their home - for example, a bed. Then, on the other side of things, youth that are aging out of the foster care system can find themselves in a new apartment or living space without any furnishings, making it difficult to launch out on their own. This is where the Alliance's Love in Action Supply Closet comes in.

About two years ago, the Alliance was able to obtain a storage unit to meet the unique needs of children and families in emergency situations. We have been so amazed at how the compassion of those around us has helped meet the needs of others. Member organizations of the Alliance will reach out with a need of some sort which we can then process if we have the item. These needs can range anywhere from extremely urgent to simply meeting someone's needs as soon as we receive what they are looking for. As time has gone on, we have been blessed to continually receive donations from our generous community. We also receive twin mattresses and bedding from Ashley Furniture's Hope to Dream Program which are such a big help for critically needed beds. This past year in 2022, The Alliance was able to furnish 78 bedrooms and apartments for kids and teens from foster care, refugee youth and families in crisis from our Love in Action Supply Closet.

Our hope is to always have our supply closet full for emergency situations that come up. Some of our biggest needs currently are:
